Which booking engine to choose for your hotel in Switzerland in 2026

This is often the question that blocks hoteliers when redesigning their site. There are dozens of solutions on the market. The promises are similar. The demo interfaces are all convincing. And yet, the wrong choice can cost you reservations for years.

What your booking engine should do, without compromise

First, it must work perfectly on mobile phone. More than 60% of hotel searches are done from a smartphone. An engine that is difficult to use on mobile sends your customers directly to Booking.

Second, it must synchronize with your channel manager or your PMS if you have one of these tools. A direct booking that creates a double-booking is a serious problem.

Third, it must accept Swiss payment methods. TWINT in particular. Swiss customers who want to pay via TWINT and cannot are often confused.

The main categories of solutions

Specialized hotel solutions like SiteMinder, Cloudbeds, or Amenitiz are designed for independent hoteliers. Their advantage is that everything is designed for the hotel industry. Their disadvantage is that you are tied to their platform, with a monthly subscription which can represent several hundred CHF per month.

White label booking solutions that integrate with your current site. You keep control of your site, you integrate a reservation widget. It's more flexible but requires more initial setup.

The trap of cumulative subscriptions

Many hoteliers find themselves with three or four overlapping subscriptions: a PMS, a channel manager, a booking engine, and a review management tool. Together, this often represents 500 to 1,000 CHF per month in fixed charges.

What you need to test before signing

Test the booking engine on your own phone. Make a real test reservation all the way through, including payment. Cancel this reservation and verify that the refund works.

Call tech support with a simple question at 6 p.m. on a Thursday. Support matters as much as features. When your reservation system goes down on a Friday night during peak season, you want someone to respond.
