How much does a website cost in Switzerland in 2026: the real figures

This is the question almost everyone asks and almost no one answers honestly. Search for “Switzerland website prices” and you find ranges so wide that they are useless, or articles that list features without ever telling you what you will actually pay.

Here are the numbers as they are, with what explains them.

What makes the price vary

The price of a website in Switzerland depends on a few real variables. The first is the type of site. A five-page showcase site for an independent has nothing to do with an online store with 500 products or a tailor-made platform.

The second variable is who does the work. An agency of twelve people in Geneva with premises and a dedicated team charges differently from a freelance developer based in Fribourg. Both can produce a great result, but their cost structure is different.

The third variable is what is included. Some prices include design, development, content, basic SEO and training to use the site. Others only include development, and everything else is purchased extra.

Actual ranges by project type

SME or liberal profession showcase site (5 to 10 pages) Between 3,500 and 7,000 CHF for serious work. Below 3,000 CHF, you are generally on a site built with a generic visual builder, with one design among ten others and little optimization.

E-commerce site (online store) Between 6,000 and 15,000 CHF for a functional store with a reasonably sized catalog. Beyond 15,000 CHF, we enter into tailor-made developments with specific integrations.

Customized web application or platform A simple customer area with authentication costs around 8,000 to 20,000 CHF. A real SaaS platform or a complex business application easily exceeds 30,000 to 50,000 CHF.

iOS and Android mobile application Count between 15,000 and 50,000 CHF for a properly developed native application.

What monthly subscriptions hide

Many offers in Switzerland are presented as monthly packages: “website from 99 CHF/month”. 99 CHF per month is 1,188 CHF per year. Over five years, you have paid almost 6,000 CHF for a site that you do not own. If you stop paying, the site disappears.

Compare with a site paid once 4,500 CHF for which you own the code, with hosting at 20 to 30 CHF per month with an independent host. Over five years, the difference is significant, and you remain in control every step of the way.

What you pay extra for and which we often forget to mention

The domain name: between 15 and 50 CHF per year depending on the extension (.ch,.com,.swiss).

Hosting: between 10 and 50 CHF per month depending on technical needs.

The SSL certificate: often included in modern hosting offers, otherwise between 50 and 200 CHF per year.

Maintenance and updates: if your site runs on WordPress, regular updates are necessary for security. Count between 200 and 800 CHF per year for a maintenance contract.

Photos and visuals: a professional shoot for a business site costs between 500 and 2,000 CHF.

Why Swiss prices are higher than in France

A developer in French-speaking Switzerland works with Swiss salary levels, Swiss social charges, and often Zurich or Geneva living costs. A web agency in Lausanne cannot charge the same rates as an agency in Lyon without working at a loss.

This explains why the very cheap offers you see online often come from providers based abroad. This is not necessarily a problem, but responsiveness, knowledge of the local market, and availability for an urgent problem are different depending on whether your agency is in Friborg or on the other side of Europe.
